Yoichi Ohira's magnificent glass work may be compared to that of masters of haiku: within the fixed and codified scheme of his pieces (glasses and goblets in the Murano tradition) he manages to introduce a meaningful and innovative element into each collection.
This book is a study of the "Pasta Vitrea" collection in which Ohira has invented a series of containers that, beyond their decorative and precious character, are intended to suggest a specific function. Purposefully limited in size, they may be harmoniously introduced to a domestic environment. This juxtaposition of high quality and accessibility is gorgeously conveyed in the 70 color photographs that cover the collection in its entirety.
